Okehampton Foodbank
Registered charity 1214881

2025 was the year I began to visit Okehampton each month, enjoying exploring the town and chatting and supporting local retailers as I always like to do when I find somewhere new.  It did not take me long to discover Simmons Park, where I continue to spend peaceful times enjoying nature and reflecting on life.

I regularly visit Clockwork Kitty in the Arcade and look forward to my Chai and chats with owner Becky.

On 25 September 2025 I read a cry for help on Becky's social media page.  Funds were needed for the Okehampton Foodbank to cover running costs such as rent, electricity etc, and invitations for ideas for fundraising were invited.

I may not live in Okehampton, but having run two charities myself I know how demanding, challenging and exhausting it can be and am aware of the importance of the Okehampton Foodbank to the local community.

I put myself forward to run a fundraising soundbath and approached Parklands Leisure Centre, who have kindly offered the use of their large Studio for free.

My regular drum sound bath events 'Journey to the Heart' are mindfully small events of 8 people, to ensure everyone has a generous amount of personal one to one time of drum sound healing and Reiki/Pure Energy Healing to ground them back into the present.  This is physically demanding and not possible for a larger event, but the 14th November is all about raising money for charity, so I need to deliver something different to accommodate more people in a supportive way.

How will I run the event differently?

I will deliver a short talk to start the event and have invited someone from the Okehampton Community Kitchen to come along to say a few words about the work they do.

This event will be a drum sound bath only, with no handson Reiki/Pure Energy Healing.

Drumming will be for 30 minutes with sharing time before leaving for those who wish to do so.

There is a lift to the first floor for anyone unable to use stairs.

Friday 14 November 2025

7.30-8.30pm (Aim to arrive by 6.50pm)

Please bring something padded and comfortable to lie on, a pillow, blanket and bottle of water.

Ticket price - £10  (Book via this website)

There will also be a donation tin available on the night.

A big thank  you to all the volunteers at Okehampton Community Kitchen and Foodbank, and to Parklands Leisure Centre for donating the use of the venue.

I am gifting my time to travel from Newton Abbot to host the event.  The only costs to be deducted from the monies raised will be an agreed reimbursement from the Charity to cover my fuel expenses.  There is also a small unavoidable website admin fee for each booking.  Everything will be listed and presented the the Charity for total transparency.

Never been to a soundbath? Curious?  Maybe now is the time to dip your toes in and help your local community too! I look forward to welcoming you.
