Fantastic to finally see some nice sunny weather. I hope you are all enjoying it!
It has been a mixed bag of a month for me, struggling with health, inflammation and pain in my knee from a fall from back in January and my 1-year old German Shepherd having leg surgery. I have been focusing on seeking two particular diagnostics in relation to my chronic pain that I have been wanting for a decade and am delighted and relieved to say objective achieved! This Friday I have an MRI of head which will look for signs of MS and also scan the Trigeminal nerve. This is an important nerve for anyone with facial/dental pain to consider, yet often overlooked by the health profession, a grey area in healthcare. The second test is nerve conduction studies, an all over body study which I have heard from others is not particular pleasant, but needs must. I wanted this to try to find an explanation to the numbness, tingling, pain, weakness, balance issues, heighted pressure and temperature sensitivity I experience, which has been worryingly increasing and impacting on my legs over the last 2 years.
When you live with chronic illness, life can feel like one long internet search and medical appointment. One thing became clear to me after 10 years, you can be sent for endless tests by your GP or Consultant, but not very often do you find the answers you seek. I am sure many can relate to the feeling of Groundhog Day. We have to be empowered and become a detective of our own health, and that is hard to do when your health is compromised.
My message is to never give up looking for your answers, they are out there to be found, and on the journey, you learn so much to help you! I strongly believe my dental diagnosis is contributing greatly to my health issues, and this is why my proposed treatment is so important. I want to document and evidence all I do, so that this can inspire and motivate others to never give up looking for their answers too.
Find Me a Dentist Podcast
Final interview complete today. Work can continue now on putting 9 months of work together.
I have found my dentist, now I need the funds to progress this essential dental surgery. This is not just about me. By sharing my story, I am hoping to raise valuable awareness on dental issues that are even more important to anyone living with a chronic illness.
Recipe of the Month - Nettle Bomb Pate
(Thanks to Donna Pointing)
Collect only the top 4-6 Nettle leaves from the plant, just snip the tops off.
Do not take or use any nettles that are flowering or seeding. These are not to be ingested as the chemical compounds change.
Method for making nettle bomb
Place collected nettles into a sink of cold water, soak and wash. Remove leaves and discard stems.
NOTE: Nettles reduce in size when cooked. Steam for 15-20 mins.
Use a clean bowl to catch juice from the nettles as you squash them. Squash and form them into patties.
Wrap each patty in greaseproof paper and either eat straight away or can be frozen for use in other recipes such as smoothies, gravy, pâté etc.
Ingredients for nettle pate
½ cup cashews
Juice of 1 whole lemon plus a little pulp and zest
Pinch of rock salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1 Nettle Bomb (pictured above)
2-3 tsp of Nettle juice
1-2 clove of garlic (optional)
Blend or pound in a pestle and mortar. Enjoy on crackers, bread or toast, it’s lovely and packed with vitamins and minerals.

Music offering for the month
With our young people very much in the news and spotlight right now, it felt a good moment to acknowledge them ... our future.
"I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be”
